B-Grade Oak for natural defects with exposed top grain on the oak cant legs.
Cants are the centre core that's left after they've cut the normal planks from a stump. They provide lots of character due to uneven drying of the circular grain.

Buccara - Graaff-Reinet
This was an amazing project on a game lodge. This table was one of my biggest yet, at 4.7m long x 1.5m wide, made from 50mm thick solid oak in a short grain formation. It seats 14 people on upholstered seats comfortably, and can accommodate another 2 at each end.
The leg was made from 130x16mm solid steel flat bar. The total weight is close to 500kg. The house is on poles, 3m of the ground. The top was designed in 3 pieces to allow entrance into the building via a fairly narrow stair case.
We've also done the bar & wine rack in the background, as well as the vanities and a few special shelves.

Iroko patio table
& bench.
It's not designed for direct rain, but the slots will let water through if it ever get some rain or splashed water.
Iroko is a good option for exterior use and can handle quite a lot of the elements. It will go grey if not treated.

Nook height tables (910mm) on a steel leg.
It's a great solution to double-up as eating & working surface in combination with nook stools.
It's not everyday that we get to work with such a nice piece of Yellow Wood.

A very compact kitchen solution in solid oak, designed for a B&B apartment. It also accommodates a microwave oven on the shelf to the right. The table top swings out on a very strong bearing system.

COFFEE & SIDE TABLES:

Here's a small selection of coffee tables & side tables that we've designed and manufactured in the past.
Coffee table designs can really be very creative, and there is no specific size, height or proportion that you need to adhere to, as long as it suits the space available

ENTRANCE TABLES & SERVERS:
Entrance Table 4.JPG
An entrance table is there to welcome you home. It's a statement piece, and it might just as well be a BOLD statement.
It's typically the first furniture piece that you see once you enter the front door.
A server unit is most of the times a more practical solution for this purpose.

SEATING:
Eetkamer Tafel en Stoele.jpg
This section is only here for the sake of covering all the options of furniture pieces.
I don't like to build dining chairs, or any chair for that matter. I call it my ABCD-rule: Anything But Chairs & Doors!!

A chair consumes little material, but most of times more labour than a dining table. Charging for all the labour is almost impossible, except if you are talking high quantities.
You are also competing against very competitive prices on imported products in SA.
I've got some imported chairs at my own dining table at home.

I'm a big fan of benches for a more informal dining experience. They are versatile if you need to squeeze in an extra person & the lack in height from a back rest is also great for a visual flow in open plan situations.
